Srinagar, May 30 (KNO): In view of recent events in Srinagar city where a minor boy lost his life, the Srinagar police have appealed to residents to exercise caution and responsibility while sharing information on social media.
Officials, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), warned that spreading unverified facts, rumors, or misleading content can hamper peace and create unnecessary confusion among the public.
They stressed that false information circulating online often affects ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.
A police officer told KNO that social media is a powerful tool, but it must be used carefully. “Before sharing any information, people should verify the facts and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports.”
The police also urged citizens not to believe everything posted online and to rely on official announcements for accurate updates. They highlighted that responsible online behaviour supports the work of law enforcement agencies and helps create a safer community.
Moreover, the authorities also reminded people that sharing sensitive details related to incidents can interfere with investigations and delay justice. They encouraged everyone to report any suspicious or false content to the police rather than spreading it further—(KNO)
